Citrinos do Algarve IGP are characterised by their thin, brightly coloured, shiny skin. They are very juicy, with a perfect balance between acidity and sugars, which distinguishes them from other citrus-growing regions in the world. Taking into account the different varieties and the regional climate characteristics, they are produced throughout the entire year.
The production area of IGP citrus fruits is restricted to the following municipalities: Albufeira, Castro Marim, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Monchique, Olhão, Portimão, S. Brás de Alportel, Silves, Vila Real de Santo António, Loulé (except the civil parish of Ameixial) and Tavira (except the civil parish of Cachopo).
